The 25-year-old actress' mother Sian has insisted the 24-year-old P.E. teacher is more her daughter's type than any of the other male Islanders, after some viewers questioned their connection.

She said: "Some people might think Amy isn’t particularly into Hugo but as her mum I can honestly say it’s genuine.

"Her past boyfriends have always been someone she laughs with, banters with and someone with a great personality and we knew beforehand he was more her type having spoken to her than any of the other boys in there."

Some 'Love Island' fans questioned Hugo after he said "job done" when he kissed Amy in Casa Amor last week, but Sian has shot to his defence, insisting there was "a lot of pressure" on him.

She added to The Sun Online: "There was a lot of hype around 'that kiss' and I genuinely think there was a lot of pressure on Hugo and he was super nervous.

"I’ve no doubt there’s been a lot more kisses since that the viewers haven’t seen."

But the pair questioned their own romance in last night's (04.08.21) episode.

Amy said: "I definitely do feel like there is distance between us."

Hugo replied: "What would me trying more look like? You haven't pulled me."

But Amy said: "I feel like I've pulled you enough."

Hugo then added: "I literally can't think of a time."

But Amy insisted: "When people are together, it should be about 'pulling' people for a chat."
