'Love Island' is expected to return to Majorca this summer.
The ITV2 show - which is hosted by Laura Whitmore - is set to film on the Spanish island this June, after several precautions were put in place to ensure the series runs "smoothly" amid the coronavirus pandemic.
A source said: "Producers have watched shows like 'Dancing on Ice' struggle during the pandemic.
"They don’t want the same fate.
All precautions have been taken to make sure it goes smoothly."
'Love Island' bosses are expected to fly out a back-up cast this year, and they will head out with the main cast in May and quarantine before filming begins in June.
The source added: "Besides the extra cast, they’ve incorporated COVID safety measures and increased checks on contestants’ mental health.
"Everyone is very excited. Restrictions are easing, the Euros football is on and 'Love Island' is back in Majorca. What more could you want?"
Potential Islanders are said to have been told to have dates free between May to August, and they will have to undergo "a psychological and physical assessment" prior to flying out.
According to The Sun newspaper, bosses have told them: "Before arriving in Majorca we ask all applicants at this stage of the casting process to undergo a psychological and physical assessment, a sexual health screening and an unannounced drugs test.
"Once you arrive you will have a brief discussion about your physical health with our on-site medical team."
ITV said: "We are not currently in a position to confirm locations for the forthcoming series."
Earlier this month, it was claimed producers were said to be considering shooting the show in Jersey in case coronavirus restrictions made it too difficult to film in Majorca.
A source previously said: "The Channel Islands get plenty of sunshine so it makes sense to hold 'Love Island' there if we can't get back to Spain.
"Either way we're going to put out a belting series. Viewers have missed 'Love Island' for the whole of 2020 and they're desperate to have it back. They're going to love what we do, wherever we do it."
