The 29-year-old actress is currently in the middle of a major story after Ruby was sexually assaulted by Ross Swinden (Ossian Luke) and Matt Clarkson (Mitchell Hunt) which has opened up the question of consensual sex.

Louisa admits there is still a long way to go with the plot but she and the writing team have started to think ahead and she thinks the possibilities for her character are endless because she was away from the show for 12 years.

In an interview on 'This Morning' on Wednesday (28.11.18), she said: "Initially, I came back for this storyline but now I've been extended so am staying a while longer and what's great is because I've been missing for so long I could be a doctor, I could have a lovechild somewhere that comes back, once this storyline is put to bed I will talk about it. But we're gonna play this out right so this will play out for quite a while."

Louisa admits she never thought she'd ever get asked back to the programme after over a decade away because she assumed that viewers wouldn't remember her.

And the star admits she is very grateful to outgoing executive producer John Yorke for giving her the opportunity to return for such an important plot.

She said: "I left in 2006, I think for the first four or five years you always have it in the back of your mind that you could be going back, but when it passes 10 years you just think there's no way that my character will be remembered. I thought, 'How could I go back on my own?' But that's what they've done.

"John Yorke called me and said, 'We'd love to bring your character back and this is the nature of the storyline, how do you feel?' Obviously as an actress I was pleased to be given such a huge storyline to be trusted with, obviously I was a bit nervous because I've not been in the show for so long so there's a lot of pressure to go back, but so far so good."
