Lorraine Kelly doesn't think breakfast TV will "ever be the same again" following Piers Morgan's 'Good Morning Britain' departure.
The 'Lorraine' host has admitted her former ITV colleague "will be missed" on the breakfast show after he quit the programme last night (09.03.21) - following controversial comments he made about the Duchess of Sussex - and Lorraine admitted it was "a lot quieter and calmer" in the ITV studios this morning (10.03.21).
She said: "It's very quiet and very calm.
"He will be missed. I know Piers divided opinion. Of course he did.
"There was that Marmite factor. Sometimes you would hear people say, 'Oh, I don't like him. But what's he saying?' That kind of thing.
"It'll be a lot quieter and calmer, but he brought something quite extraordinary.
"I don't think breakfast television will ever be the same again, that's for sure."
Piers' former 'GMB' co-host Susanna Reid said: "I think unique is the word to describe Piers Morgan. You either loved him, or some people hated him.
"He was hugely popular with many, many viewers. Hugely controversial. Many, many critics.
"But a big presence."
Lorraine agreed, and also insisted Piers was "a very loyal friend" to her and others during his six years on the show.
Speaking on 'GMB', she added: "Absolutely, but a very loyal friend.
"Anybody who has ever been in trouble and has needed his help - he has been there.
"So you have to take your hat off to him, and wish him well for the future in whatever he decides to do."
Ofcom have received more than 41,000 complaints about Piers' comments towards Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, on Monday's (08.03.21) 'GMB', following her and Prince Harry's tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey on Sunday (07.03.21).
But Piers - who said on Monday he "didn’t believe a word" of the duchess' interview, in which she said she "didn’t want to be alive" after receiving heavy public scrutiny - is standing by his comments.
On Wednesday morning, he tweeted: "On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions."
Piers also clashed with 'GMB' weather presenter Alex Beresford on yesterday's show over his Meghan comments, resulting in Piers storming out of the studio for a breather.
