The 'Emmerdale' actor and his former co-star got married in February before embarking on a honeymoon in Cuba, but they just managed to get the final Virgin flight back to the UK from the capital city amid the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: "We got married on February 16th and went back to work for a bit, then had our honeymoon in Cuba.

"We came back on the last Virgin flight from Havana, so we were very nearly stuck in Havana for the whole of lockdown.

"That could've been different.

"I've obviously married the right woman, because it's just been perfect."

Liam will celebrate  10 years on 'Emmerdale' next year as his character Dan Spencer, who first appeared on the programme in November 2011.

The 50-year-old star - who was previously married to 'Hollyoaks' legend Nicole Barber-Lane (Myra McQueen) - admitted one of the reasons he is still in the village is thanks to his former co-stars Kelli Hollis (Ali Spencer), Alicya Eyo (Ruby Haswell), and Luke Roskell (Sean Spencer) making him so welcome on his first day in the Dales.

When asked on 'Lorraine' if it feels as though he has been on the soap for nearly a decade, he added: "It doesn't. It goes so quick, it's absolutely insane.

"I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my [on-screen] family when I first started the show.

"Kelli Hollis, Alicya Eyo, Luke Roskell.

"I was made to feel so welcome on that first day. They made it dead easy for me.

"And I'm still here 10 years later, and it's down to those guys.

"If I wasn't made so welcome it would just be a different ball game."
