Lesley Nicol has confirmed "there is talk" of a 'Downton Abbey' movie following the end of the show last month.

The 62-year-old actress - who was known for playing Mrs Patmore in the ITV period drama - believes, although the programme aired its final ever episode over the festive season, writer Julian Fellowes has left the doors to the Yorkshire estate open slightly in case he wants to make a film about the aristocratic Crawley family in the future.
Speaking on 'This Morning,' Lesley said: "There is talk of film. He's left it open but it's not like it couldn't carry on."
However, Lesley believes Julian's busy work schedule could delay the chances of a blockbuster but thinks he's likely to take on the project one day because he's a "workaholic."
She added: "It's just whether he has the time, he's busy doing other things. But he's a workaholic so who knows?"
Meanwhile, it wasn't just fans who wept into their tissues when the finale aired on Christmas Day as the cast were also an emotional wreck but tried to cheer each other up by presenting one other gifts on the last day of filming.
Lesley explained: "It was like the last day of school, we were all a bit giddy and we gave each other presents and then we all got a bit emotional."
Meanwhile, although the show has come to an end after five years on screen, the programme's success just keeps on going as 'Downton Abbey' has been nominated for Best Drama at this year's National Television Awards (NTAs).
The popular show will go head-to-head with 'Doctor Who,' 'Casualty' and 'Broadchurch' for the gong at the ceremony at London's O2 on January 20.
