Les Dennis is to replace Anne Robinson on 'Countdown.'
The 68-year-old TV star - who is known for having fronted classic ITV game show 'Family Fortunes' between 1987 and 2002 - will now take over hosting duties of the words and numbers game on Channel 4 from August 4th.
Les wrote on Twitter: "From 4th August until 15th I shall be hosting the iconic @C4Countdown. It is such an honour. Hope you enjoy!"
Back in May, former 'Weakest Link' star Anne announced that she was stepping down from the role after a year, and following her exit in July, the show is currently being guest-hosted by Colin Murray, alongside Rachel Riley in her long-running role as an assistant.
At the time, Anne said: "I’ve had a blast hosting this wonderful show. And I stayed longer than I signed up for. Now it is time for an older woman to take the reins. I hope too I’ve encouraged TV bosses to realise that not all women at the wrong end of their seventies are in care homes playing bingo and watching conjuring tricks. In fact, the genius of 'Countdown' is that it's a brilliant way to keep the brain exercised. I run 5k most days of the week. I’ve had a blast hosting this wonderful show.
