Lee Mead is engaged to his girlfriend Issy Szumniak.
The theatre and reality TV star - who was previously married to Denise van Outen - has revealed he popped the question to make-up artist Issy on Sunday (05.02.23) after six years together and they are now planning their wedding.
Lee confirmed the news by sharing a picture of the couple together on Instagram with his bride-to-be showing off her engagement ring, and wrote: "So this happened today, and my beautiful Issy said yes. We’re both so happy and can’t wait to spend forever together."
Issy added in a post on her own Instagram page: "Six years and forever with you 05/02/23."
Lee rose to fame after winning the lead role in the 2007 West End revival of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' on BBC reality TV show 'Any Dream Will Do'.
He went on to strike up a relationship with one of the judges, Denise van Outen, and they went on to marry in 2009 and become parents to a daughter named Betsy, now 12.
Lee previously revealed he met Issy after his split from Denise when they bumped into each other in a coffee show after he'd dropped Betsy off at school.
He told The Sun newspaper: "We got on really well, but it was a while before I plucked up the courage to ask her on a date.
"She’s a lovely woman and she’s a parent as well, which I think helps. She’s based in Kent and she’s not in the same business as me; I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing!
"I’m not one to rush into relationships and I was single for six years, but it’s nice to have found someone. We’ve been together just under a year and it’s going really well. We had a nice weekend together recently and we’re very happy."
