Lee Mead has joined the cast of 'Casualty'.
The 32-year-old actor, who split from TV star Denise Van Outen earlier this year following the break down of their four-year marriage, has landed a part on the medical drama as new nurse Lofty, and he is looking forward to getting stuck into the role.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "His marriage fell apart with Denise as both of them tried to pursue their careers and something had to give.
"Thankfully for Lee he has a big new role he can sink his teeth into to help him move on from his marriage woes."
Lee added: "I'm hoping Lofty will charm audiences."
The hunk previously made a guest appearance on the show in 2011, playing a teaching assistant who accompanies a pupil to the A&E department.
Meanwhile, Denise is said to be in talks about joining 'EastEnders' but it is not known what her role in the soap would be.
The blonde beauty - who has been asked to appear on the soap twice before - has previously admitted she would love to join the BBC show.
She said: "I love 'EastEnders' and I know quite a few people in the cast. I went to school with Nicola Stapleton (Mandy) and Samantha Womack (Ronnie). And Chris Parker, who used to play Spencer, is one of my best mates."
