Laurence Fox was constantly stopped by police when filming Netflix series 'White Lines'.
The 41-year-old actor had hair extensions attached to his locks for his role as drug dealer David in the thriller series, and he says he looked so suspicious that officials questioned him every time he tried to board a plane to the Balearic Islands.
He told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "I play this hippy dealer and I was stopped at Heathrow countless times over a period of about six months."
The new series follows Zoe Walker (Laura Haddock) as she tries to find out who killed her brother Axel Collins (Tom Rhys Harries) after his body is found in an Ibiza desert two decades after he went missing.
However, it wasn't just the airport security that had an issue with Laurence's new look, but fans of his hit show 'Lewis' - which he plays DI James Hathaway - took to Twitter to beg him to chop it off.
He added: "The amount of sh*t I get on Twitter for my long hair with people saying, 'Why can't you be more like James Hathaway?' Occasionally I respond and I say, 'Hathers is dead!' And they don't like it!"
Meanwhile, the 'Victoria' star is tired of being cast as posh characters and decided to take on the role of a drug dealer to challenge himself and keep him interested in his career.
He explained: "I did love playing womanising Lord Palmerston in 'Victoria'. But I don't just want to be Lord whatever or Colonel. I easily get bored."
What's more, Laurence could be making more trips to the party island as Daniel Mays - who plays Marcus Ward - wants a second season of 'White Lines'.
He said: "I mean look, I think it's dying, it's calling out for a second series.
"It's kind of none of it's been properly resolved. I don't wanna give away too much but, yeah I'm just pitching for a second series."
