The 'Last of the Summer Wine' star - who played Howard Sibshaw in the BBC sitcom - passed away a few weeks after his wife Diana.

Robert's manager Maxine Hoffman confirmed the sad news, describing him as "the most delightful client anyone could wish for".

She told the BBC: "[Robert was] a truly talented and versatile actor and much loved by everyone he worked with."

Howard spent his time in 'Last of the Summer Wine' trying to hide his affair with Marina (Jean Fergusson) from his wife Pearl Sibshaw, who was portrayed by the late Juliette Kaplan.

Robert portrayed Howard from 1985 to the show's end in 2010.

He also starred in seven episodes of 'Coronation Street' as Malcolm Lagg, a school crossing patrol officer who trained Dennis Tanner (Philip Lowrie) to take over from him.

Robert's other small screen credits included BBC drama series 'Monarch of the Glen', E4 sci-fi comedy 'Misfits', and in 2017 he starred opposite James Van Der Beek in Sky One sitcom 'Carters Get Rich'.

He was also no stranger to the big screen, appearing in 2001 action movie 'The 51st State', 2004 action film 'Around the World in 80 Days', and in 2016 he portrayed Butler Edwin in comedy-horror movie 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'.

Robert's death comes after Juliette passed away aged 80 in October 2019.

As well as her role as Pearl, she also appeared in 'Corrie', playing Agnes Tinker, the grandmother of Beth Tinker (Lisa George).

She starred in eight episodes from January 2015 to February 2015, first appearing as the character for her granddaughter Beth's marriage to Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment).

Jean - who also had several guest stints in 'Corrie' - died just a month later in November 2019 aged 74.
