Larry Lamb is now a member of the New Tricks cast.
The actor joins Tamzin Outhwaite, Nicholas Lyndhurst and Denis Lawson in the comedy drama's twelfth series.
Larry will take on the role of retired police officer Ted Case who joins the Unsolved Crime and Open Case Squad (UCOS).
Chatting to The Sun newspaper about the news, he revealed: "I'm thrilled to have been asked to join such a well-loved show.
"The writing and the cast are top notch and I'm really looking forward to getting started."
His addition comes after show's main cast all quit over the past few years.
Amanda Redman branded the show as "bland" following her 2013 exit whilst Dennis Waterman announced he missed the old cast earlier this year.
Filming for the twelfth series is currently underway with Outhwaite, Lyndhurst and Lawson all reprising their roles as Sasha Miller, Dan Griffin and Steve MacAndrew respectively.
An "explosive" start to the series is promised, that will see off Waterman's character Gerry Standing for good.
