Larry Lamb's three wives helped him become a better man.
The former 'EastEnders' actor stars in new ITV drama 'Love and Marriage' - which explores themes of monogamy and wedded bliss - and he believes his own unions have inspired his role in the show.
The 65-year-old star felt he was at a "disadvantage" when it came to romance after witnessing the breakdown of his parents' marriage as a child but each of his three marriages has taught him to love.
He explains: "The reason I've had three marriages is because I've been on a quest to put my life right. I started off with a distinct disadvantage in terms of my emotional set-up but each one of those relationships has fed into what I am today.
"We're all trying to turn ourselves into more complete individuals - isn't that the idea? It's been 50 odd years since the boy I used to be was basically cast adrift."
Despite some of his relationships failing, the 'Gavin & Stacey' actor - who has four children including TV presenter George Lamb, 33, with his ex-wife Laura Martin, and 10-year-old daughter Eva-Mathilde with current partner Clare Burt - insists every woman in his life has been an "extraordinary human being".
He added to Radio Times magazine: "The people in my life, the women in particular, have been my building blocks. Without them I wouldn't be here. Every single one has been an extraordinary human being."
