'EastEnders' star Lacey Turner thinks Stacey Fowler's heart has been "completely and utterly stamped" on by Martin Fowler.
The 32-year-old actress has admitted that her on-screen character is struggling to come to terms with Martin's relationship with Ruby, her former best friend.
She said: "I think her heart was completely and utterly stamped [on].
"She was heartbroken because she had just confessed her love to Martin and said that she still loves him and they can work it out and then he says sorry I'm married, which was a knife in the stomach."
Lacey believes that Stacey cannot rationalise Martin's romance with Ruby.
She told Inside Soap magazine: "I think in her heart of hearts she doesn't think that it is real – I think deep down she doesn't think it is a real relationship. She thinks that Martin likes Ruby's money and is really just doing it to get back at her."
Meanwhile, Lacey previously admitted that working on 'EastEnders' is easier than being a stay-at-home mum.
The soap star - who has Dusty, 15 months, and is expecting another child next year - said: "It is definitely easier to go to work than it is to be a stay-at-home mum, I really take my hat off to mums who stay at home, it is the hardest job I've ever done.
"As lovely and rewarding as it is, it's definitely the toughest job, so I go to work for a rest."
Lacey also praised the parenting skills of her husband Matt Kay.
She shared: "He is brilliant, he is so amazing with her.
"She adores him and he adores her. It's perfect and they adore spending time with each other, and he was happy to stay at home - it's 2020, why not?"
