Lacey Turner is reportedly set to take a break from 'EastEnders'.
The 32-year-old actress - who plays Stacey Fowler in the long-running soap - is taking an extended period off later this year, with 'EastEnders' bosses now developing an explosive plot for her exit.
A source explained: "Lacey will be taking a break. The top bosses agreed to give her some time off from the show."
Producers of the soap are currently weighing up how to approach Lacey's exit.
The insider told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: "This is a great opportunity for the writers to come up with something big for Lacey to get her teeth into.
"She has always been a big hit with fans. There is no doubt they will really miss her while she's off screen."
However, Lacey isn't seeking to quit the show for good and she fully intends to return to 'EastEnders' within a year.
Meanwhile, Lacey recently admitted to crying when she was turned down for the role of Demi Miller.
The actress was left heart-broken when she was rejected for the part of Mickey Miller's sister, who was played by Shana Swash from 2004 to 2006.
Lacey - who was cast as Stacey later in 2004 - said: "I originally came in for an audition for the Miller family.
"I went for an audition with them, and Tony Jordan was there and Julia Crampsie - who is the casting director for 'EastEnders' and many other things.
"I got down to the last two - it was between me and my cousin. I then went home and they rang me and said I hadn't got it. I cried in bed. I went to bed that night and I was crying."
