Kit Harington felt lonely starring in 'Game of Thrones'.
The 29-year-old actor will be taking on the title role in new stage show 'Doctor Faustus', which is to run at the Duke of York's theatre, and he admits getting the chance to come home to London was a major "reason" in him taking the job as he would be away from the UK for such a long time making the HBO fantasy series.
Speaking to Time Out magazine, he said: "I'm a London boy. It's my home, I f***ing love this place. At the moment I'm around my friends and my girlfriend. In a shallow way, that's a reason to take this job. Privacy can be hard when you get some success, but the really difficult thing is being away so much. What I've found hardest about being in 'Thrones' and on TV is how lonely it is."
Kit - who is dating fellow 'Game of Thrones' star Rose Leslie - has also moaned about the craze for people to get selfies and fans who try and secretly take photos of him.
The hunky star admits the fame he has achieved from appearing in 'Game of Thrones' means he is recognised wherever he goes but he thinks it's rude when people try and snap him without even asking.
He said: "Everyone's a camera man - you can't go anywhere without somebody pointing their phone at you. It's f***ing rude, and I used to get very f***ing angry about people doing that. But now, unless it's really blatant and f***ing obvious, I just tune it out. They love the show and it's part and parcel of being a recognisable character from 'Game of Thrones'. That's what you get paid for in lots of ways."
After starring in HBO TV show 'Game Of Thrones' for six years Kit's character Jon Snow was assassinated at the end of season five but fans have been sceptical about whether his death was truly the end.
Kit didn't attend the season six premiere held in Los Angeles further stoking the fans on social media.
Talking about his departure from the series, he said: "Look, I'm not in the show any more, I'm definitely not in the show. I filmed scenes of me being dead. It's some of my best work. I know how long I'm a corpse for, but I am a corpse."
