Kirsty Gallacher suffered post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following her divorce from Paul Sampson.
The 44-year-old TV presenter has admitted her split from Paul, 42, had a devastating impact on her after their 15-year relationship came to an end.
Kirsty - who was married to Paul from 2010 until 2015 - said: "The divorce was a very difficult period. I found it devastating.
"I was grieving and mourning. I think I had PTSD. I was skinny, not eating and wanting to black it all out. It was painful."
Kirsty - who has kids Jude, 10, and Oscar, 13, with her ex-husband - also revealed she felt a "burden" following their split.
She told the 'Outspoken Beauty' podcast: "I felt a burden and a sadness for my children, even though I didn't do anything wrong and Sammo didn't do anything wrong. No one was to blame."
Earlier this year, Paul revealed he didn't want their divorce to be a war.
The former rugby star explained: "I was struggling with retirement and losing my old man, and then I faced a big divorce after that. It was one of those things. It wasn't working out.
"Often when people decide to go their separate ways, as soon as the divorce starts, it turns into a war.
"But we were really civil from the off. Well, not from the off, that's a lie."
Paul revealed they buried the hatchet after toasting their divorce from opposite ends of a champagne bar.
He explained: "It was all a bit surreal, to be honest.
"After about an hour I thought, 'Well, I'm not going to let her leave without saying something'. So I went over and said, 'Are you OK?'
"She got quite annoyed but I said, 'Look, this doesn't have to be a war.'"
