With FOX announcing that they will be rebooting 24 with an all-new series and all-new cast through 24: Legacy, fans are split on whether or not they'd like to see the show return.
One man whose opinion should hold some weight though has backed the idea, with Kiefer Sutherland - the original's main character Jack Bauer - telling fans at a TIFF LIVE Q&A: "I have said from the beginning that the real star of 24 is the idea, and I mean that wholeheartedly."
TVLine released the clip, where he also speculated about the potential for a Bauer-based movie: "I have no idea if the [24] movie will ever happen, or Jack Bauer might end up finding his way into an episode one day and clarifying all of that, or ending all of that".
The actor is currently in talks to serve as executive producer on the show, but says: "Whether we end up working together on it or not, I'll be one of the first people who can't wait to see it.
"I have every faith they'll do something cool and clever."
Eric Carter will be replacing Bauer as the show's main protagonist, an African American military hero in his 20s who makes a return to America, finding that trouble has followed him back to his homeland.
Manny Koto and Evan Katz who worked on the original series wrote the script for the new pilot episode, with Stephen Hopkins - director of half of the first series of 24 including the original pilot - also back on board.
There's no news yet on any casting, but it's expected to come in the near future.
