Glee star Kevin McHale advises his castmates not to check ratings for the series.
The 26-year-old actor, who plays wheelchair bound Artie Abrams in the hit musical comedy, has revealed he warns his co-stars including Lea Michele not to look up the show's viewing figures, which have fallen significantly over the years.
'Glee' once attracted nine million viewers each week in the US, but figures fell to as low as 1.8 million for the last series.
Kevin told the Metro newspaper: "I'm the only one in the cast who checks the viewing figures - everyone else is oblivious. If someone asks me how we did last night, I say, 'You don't want to know, just go through your lines.' "
The popular show is to go off air next year after six seasons and Kevin feels a great relief that the cast and crew know when it will end so they can say goodbye properly..
He explained: "We knew before [season five] the show was going to end with the sixth season so it's good to be able to prepare mentally for that.
"Usually you wake up one morning and you're told your show's been cancelled.
"We've had a really good run and 'Glee' has changed TV in a lot of ways. Even if the show doesn't have the ratings it used to, we still have a passionate hardcore fan base."
