Kerry Katona decided to quit 'Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins' because Ant Middleton's rants gave her flashbacks of being abused by her late ex-husband George Kay.
The former Atomic Kitten star handed in her armband on the episode of the gruelling Channel 4 military reality show which aired on Sunday night (05.09.21) after struggling with the challenges.
Now, Kerry has admitted she was left unable to sleep due to Ant's shouting which "catapulted" her back to her abusive marriage to George - who died at the age of 39 in July 2019 from cocaine toxicity - who would sometimes spit at her during his aggressive tirades.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, she said: "There was one point where Ant grabbed me and he said, ‘You’ve got f***ing more to prove than anybody else, just own that.’ I couldn’t sleep that night.
“He didn’t mean to ... he just kind of catapulted me back to when George used to spit in my face."
Kerry - who is now engaged to fitness instructor Ryan Mahoney - insists she is "not ashamed" that she "came last" because she has overcome so man problems in her life that she knows she is a strong woman.
She said: "I am not ashamed I didn’t last longer.
"I was just thinking to myself, ‘You’ve got through so much in your life, well f***ing done.’
“I did not need to continue to be shouted out, and fail, and collapse, and get told, ‘Oh you’re s***.’ I’ve been through all that in real life.”
Kerry's co-star Ulrika Jonsson had to quit the programme on medical advice after her body didn't recover from hypothermia which she was struck down with on the first day.
Other celebrities competing on the series include former 'Loose Women' panellist Saira Khan, pop star Alexandra Burke and ex-'Love Island' contestant Wes Nelson.
