Keeley Hawes admits 'Finding Alice' was thrown into chaos by the coronavirus crisis.
The 44-year-old actress plays the central character in the new ITV drama, but the show's filming was disrupted in 2020, when lockdown restrictions were introduced across the UK.
Keeley - who stars in the show alongside Nigel Havers and Joanna Lumley - shared: "We had almost finished filming in the studio when we had to stop for lockdown.
"There was a very strange atmosphere by then. No one was on the roads. People were scared. And long before people were talking about them, we were all in a bubble.
"We stayed safe, no one was going out. We were just coming to work and going back home again."
Keeley also explained why talk of the pandemic is absent from the show.
She told the Daily Star newspaper: "We couldn't introduce Covid into the story because we were so far into filming. And nor would we want to, really."
Earlier this month, Joanna revealed Keeley convinced her to join 'Finding Alice'.
The 74-year-old actress relished the experience of working with the acclaimed star.
Asked what drew her to the role of Sarah in 'Finding Alice', Joanna replied: "First of all it’s a lovely part. Secondly Keeley Hawes, who I have admired for a long time and is such a good, accomplished and varied actress. And thirdly the writing.
"I thought the story was brilliant. You always read the story first because no matter how nice your own part is, if the writing isn’t there, if the story isn’t gripping to the audience, it’s not going to work.
"I thought 'Finding Alice' was enthralling from the very beginning. Something completely different. Funny, but quite tragic without being self-pitying."
