Katherine Ryan reconnected with her first love while filming 'Who Do You Think You Are?'.
The 36-year-old comic ran into her former childhood flame Bobby Kootstra in her hometown of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada while she was recording the BBC series, and she joked about the surgery she's had after their chance meeting.
She's quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: "During filming I went for a night out with my sister and bumped into my first love Bobby - we then dated for about a year when I was fifteen and then we split ...
"I'm amazed he recognised me."
After their pair's reunion in January, Bobby moved in with Katherine and her daughter in London.
The TV star's episode of the BBC One show - which sees famous faces delving into their family history - will air at 9pm on August 19.
In the past, Katherine - who moved to the UK from Canada almost a decade ago - has admitted she once dreamed of being able to afford a takeaway after being "properly poor" before finding fame.
Asked how she likes to treat herself, she replied: "Takeaway! I have takeaways almost every day. Which makes me feel guilty as a mum.
"But I counteract it with nice grocery deliveries. I have a tiny house, but hey, I'm happy with my middle class mum luxuries now. "I'll take my £8 cherries from Ocado. If I lived in Canada I could afford a mansion straight out of college, but it's different here."
Katherine also admitted her comedy career simply "has to work".
She explained: "If it all went away now, I'd want to study dermatology and burst people's spots for a living. But the comedy has to work. It became urgent when Violet was born. I was poor. Proper Victorian poor."
