Katherine Kelly "loves" her job.
The 43-year-old star still gets a thrill from acting, and Katherine insists she's "never lost that sense of gratitude".
The actress - who previously played Becky McDonald on 'Coronation Street' - told the Radio Times: "I'm in a vocation and a job that I love. I'd do it anyway, I just made a living out of it.
"I’ve never lost that sense of gratitude and I think gratitude is probably one of the hardest things to hold on to. You're blessed when you get to my age and still love your job because most of my friends don’t."
Katherine has already enjoyed a varied career, and the actress is keen to continue to challenge herself in the coming years.
She shared: "If everyone's going one way, I want to go the other way. I don't swim with the tide."
Katherine has her own production company and she's now determined to provide opportunities for budding stars.
She said: "I'm very much into giving people an opportunity or a chance to shine, and there are a lot of jobs in this industry that people don't know exist. It's not just an actor or a camera person, there's all these fabulous role in between and I want to make sure people get an opportunity."
The actress comes from a working-class background and Katherine insists she doesn't have "any sense of entitlement" about her.
The soap star explained: "My dad left school at 15 with no qualifications and went to work down a coal mine. All my family have worked in them. I have that thing of not having any sense of entitlement, or expecting things to come to you. You have to go and do it yourself."
