Kate Garraway feels like she "failed" her children during the pandemic.
The 'Good Morning Britain' presenter struggled to get to grips with homeschooling her daughter Darcey, 15, and son William, 12, when the world went into lockdown last year due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus because she was trying to juggle teaching with visiting her husband Derek Draper - who was battling the virus at the time - in intensive care and her work duties on the breakfast show.
Speaking on the ITV show on Wednesday (11.08.21), she said: "We all know that it's been almost impossible for youngsters to deal with this. I know that I have frankly failed my children in supporting them in their homeschooling.
"I know I had very specific set of circumstances going on for the bulk of the time, but I found it very difficult to get online and help them to work their way through the system. And, you know, it was very, very challenging."
The 54-year-old beauty's world was turned upside down last year when Derek - whom she married in 2005 - was rushed to hospital in March because the potentially life-threatening virus had "ravaged" his body. A month later he was placed in a medically-induced coma.
He spent a year in hospital before being allowed home in April this year, but Kate has revealed he still has a "long way" to go as he can't move or feed himself and therefore requires 24-hour care.
She said recently: "He's very up and down, we're certainly a long way out of the woods. Being at home we have seen some things improve; having family around, the children around has provided stimulation. The problem is, you latch onto the positives - which is good because you have to. There's absolutely no doubt that he has huge challenges ahead."
