The 'Good Morning Britain' presenter appeared on the ITV breakfast show on Thursday (24.09.20) wearing glasses due to a mysterious eye injury, and following a trip to the doctor later that day she discovered a piece of her contact lens had got stuck nearly a week ago.

Speaking on Friday's (25.09.20) 'GMB', Kate said: "A team of eye nurses were baffled, absolutely baffled. Then eventually, after having drops, they found it was actually a contact lens stuck in my eye that's been in there for about six days.

"I felt embarrassed - I thought I had taken it out, but there was a bit still in there - just by root cause untidiness."

The 53-year-old TV presenter was having trouble reading the morning news after she mysteriously hurt her eye, and the star admitted it was "a bit of a lottery" as to what she could read due to the injury.

She said: "Let's have a look at the front pages now, if that is, I can see them. If you haven't noticed [the glasses] ... I've injured my eye.

"I don't know what I've done to it, but I'm going to get it checked out today. But it means it's all a bit of a lottery at the moment as to whether I can read anything."

Kate was joined by co-hosts Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid, and she caused a bit of "glasses envy" with 49-year-old Susanna.

She said: "Kate I'm absolutely loving your glasses, I've got a bit of glasses envy."
