Derek Draper was "focused and engaged" watching 'Good Morning Britain' from his hospital bed.
The 52-year-old political advisor, Kate Garraway's husband, was rushed to hospital in March after contracting coronavirus, and was put into an induced coma to battle the deadly respiratory bug.
He is still "desperately ill" , despite no longer testing positive for the virus, and remains in hospital where he was able to watch the ITV breakfast show.
Appearing on 'Good Morning Britain' on Tuesday (21.07.20), co-host Kate said: "He is stable and actually yesterday, I spoke to the nurses and they had put 'Good Morning Britain' on and they felt he looked focused and engaged on it."
Her co-host Ben Shephard said: "So he actually watched the programme?"
Kate quipped: "They didn't say if [he was watching] me or you ...
"I found it very emotional. We don't know if it's the movement of the light or the sound of a familiar voice, but good morning, Derek, if you are watching."
And despite the terrifying situation Kate has faced over the past four months, she was able to see the light in her circumstances, as she joked: "It is odd because he'd never really watch me on TV before - or cared - so there's a big change."
While Derek seems to be on the mend, he suffered a "tough week" after fears of a blood clot and two huge drops in blood pressure.
The 53-year-old TV presenter explained: "Derek had quite a tough week.
"He had two big falls in blood pressures, which were worrying staff. There was also swelling in his legs which was concerning that it might be clots. It was very emotional."
