Kate Garraway has revealed that her Derek Draper had a "scare" on Christmas Day (25.12.21) as he continues his recovery from COVID-19.
The 'Good Morning Britain' host's political advisor husband spent over a year in hospital after contracting coronavirus and was placed in a coma.
In a candid social media post, Kate revealed that it had been a "bumpy" 24 hours as she updated her followers with her family's festive celebrations.
The 54-year-old TV star wrote on Instagram: "So the last 24 hours has been bumpy - a scare that meant Derek might have had to go back to hospital (thankfully sorted by a visit from a nurse/carer), he also had one of his ultra fatigue days so has been too weak to do much other than sleep."
Kate - who shares children Darcey, 15, and Billy, 12, with Derek - also revealed that there had been some problems with the cooking and presents.
She explained: "I burnt the parsnips (Darceys favourite) & got the 'wrong' Lego for Billy (sic)"
However, Kate revealed that the day had a happy ending as the family gathered round to watch Christmas films.
She added: "But now snuggled up around Dad's bed watching #nativity everything feels suddenly perfect.
"Feel so grateful to have the chance to be together. Sending love & hoping you have found some joy today whatever your circumstances - #merrychristmas all! (sic)"
Kate recently admitted that Derek is still in a "terrible state" following his near-fatal brush with the virus and explained how the illness has ravaged his body.
Speaking on ITV's 'Piers Morgan's Life Stories', she said: "His digestive system, his liver, his kidneys, his heart, his nervous system. We're pretty sure that the inflammation did pass through the brain.
"He still can't communicate; he still has issues with mobility.
"Fundamentally, he's in a terrible state. Look, he's alive."
