Kate Garraway was "in tears" before her return to 'Good Morning Britain'.
The 56-year-old presenter appeared via video chat earlier this week following the death of her husband Derek Draper, who died aged 56 last month almost four years after first contracting COVID-19.
On Thursday (08.02.24), she was back as an anchor alongside Ben Shephard on the ITV breakfast show, and admitted it felt "odd".
She said: "It’s lovely to be back here. It’s odd, I feel very weird. The makeup girls had me in tears this morning just by saying hello."
Kate revealed she had "some lovely hugs today" before going on air, and thanked everyone for their support days after Derek's funeral last week.
She added: "Thank you to all of you at home as well. You have been incredible. I keep saying, just treat me normally, everyone realises they don’t know how to anymore."
Her friend and co-star Ben described her husband's funeral as "extaordinary", and a "real celebration" of his life.
Kate explained she "wanted to make it about Derek" rather than herself, before joking: "That changes this morning, it’s back to me."
The presenter - who has kids Billy, 14, and Darcey, 17, with Derek - also thanked the 'GMB' team and viewers for the way they've helped her through.
She said: "[It's been] lovely to feel so much love from everyone here."
And Ben admitted people have even been getting in touch with him to see how he's coping given their friendship, as he described it as a "sense of collective connection".
Appearing on 'GMB' earlier this week, Kate chatted to Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid and recalled the "brave" words her daughter Darcey had for Derek before he died.
She revealed: "Darcey said, 'Dad if you can’t do this we’ll be okay, you release yourself if you need to go. Don’t worry about us'.
"I thought that was brave."
