Kat and Alfie Moon
EastEnders' Kat and Alfie Moon are set to come together and bond over the loss of Michael Moon.
The former couple - played by Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie - will find comfort in each other after hearing of the death of the character (Steve Shepherd), who was the biological father of Tommy, Kat's son.
A show insider told InsideSoap magazine: "Kat and Alfie only have each other right now. Michael was far from popular around Albert Square, but he and Alfie were like family. Like Kat, Alfie's upset that Tommy will never have the chance to know his birth father.
"The gruesome way Michael was killed comes as a massive shock, so it's no wonder that something so dramatic pushes them together - especially as they've never lost that amazing spark."
However, a private moment of mourning, which sees the infamous pair and Tommy light a single firework in memory of Michael, fuels rumours of a reunion between the former lovebirds.
Whilst this new plot twist may come as a shock to fans, viewers are warned that more trouble is around the corner for the Albert Square residents as the investigation into Michael's murder gets underway.
The insider explained: "This is very much the calm before the storm. With Michael's death under investigations there's bound to be some very tough weeks ahead in Albert Square - and Kat and Alfie will need each other more than ever."
