Karen Hauer wants a female partner on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 39-year-old professional dancer - who has previously been paired with the likes of Jeremy Vine, Will Young, Jamie Laing, and Greg Wise - thinks it is "beautiful" that the show has featured same-sex couples on the last two seasons and she'd "really love" to be part of one in the next series.
She told the Daily Star Sunday newspaper: “It would be great to dance with another female this year. I’d really love that.
“It’s a beautiful thing that the show is opening up to it now. It’s not taboo anymore. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to show same-sex dancing. It’s normal now and that’s the way it should be.”
The last season saw chef John Whaite come second when paired with Johannes Radebe, while in 2020 boxer Nicola Adams danced with Katya Jones but they had to pull out of the show in week three after the dancer contracted COVID-19 but Karen was impressed by both couples.
She said: “It was done so beautifully both times.”
Karen has yet to sign a contract for the next season of the show but she admitted it is an "easy decision" for her if she's asked back.
She said: "It will be my 11th year. Nothing is signed yet, but I am hoping to be back. When they ask me, it’s always an easy decision.
“It’s the best job ever. I still love it. I work with great people. We get to take beginners and teach them to dance and see them evolve.
“We love doing that. And the public loves it as well. That’s why the show has been around for such a long time. It’s feel-good and you can watch it with your family.”
