June Whitfield has been axed from 'EastEnders'.
The 90-year-old star bounded on to screens late last year when her alter-ego Sister Ruth joined the long-running soap to help Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) find her long-lost son but she believes she's now been quietly dropped from the show because she hasn't been asked to return.
Speaking on 'Lorraine' on Friday (01.07.16), she said: "I think she was my first nun. Working with Jessie Wallace was a joy, she is so good she is magnificent.
"I think that nun is gone up now... It wasn't mentioned but I think she is gone."
However, although her career has spanned a number of classics including 'Terry and June', 'Doctor Who' and 'Midsommer Murders', June is no doubt devastated to be let go of as she was delighted to join late last year.
She said at the time: "I am so thrilled to be returning to 'EastEnders' to revisit Sister Ruth and am really looking forward to working with Jesse Wallace again."
Despite losing her role in the soap, it's unlikely the star, who is the same age as the Queen, will be slowing down any time soon as she has just reprised her role as Mother/Gran in 'Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie'.
