Julie Hesmondhalgh is often mistaken for a banker and a school teacher.
The former 'Coronation Street' star made a name for herself when she played Hayley Cropper for 16 years, and despite nearly two decades on the cobbles she is still asked if she works in the local TSB, or whether she is a teacher.
She said: "People come up to me on the street, then apologise, saying, 'Oh, sorry, I thought I knew you.'
"I get a lot of mistaken identity. 'Did you used to teach at the school?' 'Do you work in the TSB?' "
The 49-year-old actress still keeps in contact with some of her former Weatherfield co-stars, and is planning to see her former cobbles on-screen husband David Neilson (Roy Cropper) soon.
Julie - who has a one-woman show, 'The Greatest Play In The History Of The World' - said: "You know who showed up to surprise me at the play? Amanda Barrie. It was just lovely to see her.
"I'm meeting up with David soon. I'm really looking forward to seeing him and his family. He has two granddaughters I haven't met yet."
Julie will turn 50 in February next year, and she and her 'Corrie' screenwriter husband Ian Kershaw - with whom she shares daughters Martha, 18, and 15-year-old Lyss - are planning a big Interrailing holiday to celebrate.
She added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "The girls have both got plans over the summer without us for the first time, so we're thinking of going Interrailing."
Julie recently admitted her husband doesn't give her any 'Coronation Street' spoilers, despite writing scripts for the soap.
She said: "We've still got a lovely 'Corrie' connection in our family. Although he's been very mean about giving me the gossip. I used to tell him everything, he won't tell me anything!"
