Julie Hesmondhalgh has created a campaign to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer.
The 43-year-old actress portrays cancer-sufferer Hayley Cropper in 'Coronation Street' and following a TV appeal yesterday (24.07.13), in which she asked viewers to help her in her quest improve funding for the killer disease, she is now looking for 20,000 signatures on a poll.
Julie took to Twitter to drum up support for her campaign and changed her bio on the social networking to include all the necessary details for those keen to help her out.
It states: "Want to get 20,000 signatures to fight for better research funding & awareness of the silent killer, pancreatic cancer, as lovely Hayley's legacy. Please sign: epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/48389 (sic)"
The actress - who is to leave the show at the end of the year after portraying the timid factory worker since 1998 - also tweeted some helpful hints to her 49,000 followers for when they are filling out the form.
She tweeted: "When u sign, please remember to confirm when they email you back or your name doesn't get added. #pancreaticcancer (sic)"
The emotional storyline is expected to culminate in Hayley dying from the deadly disease.
