Josie Gibson was rushed to hospital after jetting back from ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’.
The 38-year-old TV presenter appeared alongside the likes of Brexiteer Nigel Farage, podcaster Sam Thompson, and former boxer Tony Bellew in this year’s series of the ITV show, and has revealed her return to her job on ‘This Morning’ was “touch and go” after she suffered a health scare upon arriving in the UK.
During an appearance on ‘Loose Women’, she said: “When I came out, I was on the flight coming home and I just started to feel really unwell, shivering. Then when I got back, I had severe tonsillitis, I couldn't breathe so I got taken to hospital on Friday.
"They put me on a drip and gave me loads of steroids to bring the swelling down so I could breathe again. It was a bit touch and go whether I could have made This Morning, I just want to thank everybody [at the hospital].
"I would not have been able to do This Morning without them and they really took care of me, so thank you to all the doctors and nurses."
Josie then relived being called into the operating room, where fellow patients were shocked to discover the ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!’ star.
She said: "I was sat there in A and E and they said: ‘Josie Gibson’. I heard people go, 'That's that lady off the jungle’, and I was like, 'Yeah, that's me!’”
The former 'Big Brother' star came fourth in the ITV programme, which saw ‘Made in Chelsea’ star Sam Thompson crowned the new King of the Jungle.
Although she was not victorious, Josie said she was “so happy” for her campmate.
She told Dermot O’Leary during an appearance on ‘This Morning’: “It feels so good to be out, but can I just say, I am so happy that Sam has been crowned King of the Jungle. That man is such a gorgeous human being, I just love the bones of him. He’s just such a beautiful soul. He’s like a puppy, just love him.”
