Joshua 'JP' Patterson experienced "one of the darkest" years of his life in 2018.
The former 'Made in Chelsea' star found it "crippling" watching his fitness business Mahara go bankrupt and his split from Binky Felstead - with whom he has 22-month-old daughter India - last year "incredibly tough" because he the couple feared how it would "impact" their little girl's life.
Speaking to the latest issue of OK! Magazine, he admitted: "My business - women's fitness brand Mahara - collapsed. It's crippling.
"I think the announcement of Binks and I breaking up was incredibly tough to take because we have a daughter.
"I think the both of us had such a fear of what impact that may have in her life and our family's lives."
However, JP and Binky have no trouble co-parenting the tot despite living in different parts of the country.
He said: "We do a lot together. Binks comes to Norfolk and I go to Sussex. You're naturally going to get people that are confused by it but I say f*** off because you've got to do what works for your family and what makes you happy. I know how happy India is when she sees her mum and dad together and that makes us both happy."
The 29-year-old reality star hit "rock bottom" back in 2015 and contemplated committing suicide and he admitted that it was a "stupid decision because he realised in the moment he has "a bigger purpose" in life.
He told the publication: "The day it actually got to the point where I was ready to go I just paused, and that sparked something in me that made me realise there was a bigger purpose for me than I'd seen. What a stupid decision it would have been."
