Jorgie Porter was "losing sight" of herself during her 'Hollyoaks' stint.
The 31-year-old star played Theresa McQueen on the Channel 4 soap for over seven years until her exit in 2004, and she has admitted a desire to return to her stage roots pushed her to leave.
Speaking to the Express, she said: "I think I was losing sight of what I'm trained for. My grandma will be like, 'You should be dancing on stage now, go back to it.' "
Now, Jorgie is treading the boards as Kelly in 'Fame The Musical', and she's delighted to be living out her dream.
She added: "I'm still in my childhood life of what I always wanted to be in and what I wanted to do. It sounds quite cheesy and corny but it's actually my favourite job in the world
"I like dancing on stage. I can't believe I'm doing it. Everyday I wake up I'm like yes I don't have to wake up at six every morning."
The actress was last seen on 'Hollyoaks' when her character left for Spain, and while she isn't considering a comeback just yet, she's glad the door was left open.
She said: "I wouldn't never say never to going back... I would never say never to a soap because also it must be exciting to know what Theresa is up to or what she is doing.
"Of course I really wanted a dramatic ending but I'm just glad I'm not dead."
Over the years, Jorgie has also appeared on reality shows like 'Dancing On Ice', 'Celebs Go Dating' and 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!', while her most recent acting role on the small screen was in the 2016 'Are You Being Served?' revival.
