John Yorke is convinced 'EastEnders' is the "best soap on television."
The show's 55-year-old producer - who rejoined the programme earlier this year-
can't wait for viewers to watch the festive episodes because he's convinced fans won't be expecting the "shocks and surprises" that are coming their way.
Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, John said: "To guide us through the episode is Mick and Linda were about to renew their wedding vows, I came up with this line 'Someone old, someone new, someone's dead, someone's blue'. We really want this Christmas to be full of shocks and surprises and we have some shocking twists coming up. I believe 'EastEnders' is the best soap on television."
A shock death will leave viewers gripped to their seats and they'll always see Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) and Max Branning (Jake Wood) rekindle their affair - 12 years after their first fling was exposed.
And, although the festive season will be plagued with misery, the New Year will see the return of some familiar faces as Jessie Wallace is reprising her role as Kat Moon.
A source said recently: "John loves the Slaters. A lot of people thought he might bring some of them back. He believes they're long-standing favourites who should be at the heart of the show and thinks Kat's return will be a hit. Nobody knew if she or Alfie would return so it looked like they had been killed. This will surprise fans."
Jessie - who played Kat from 2000-05 and 2010-16 - recently admitted she was keen to make a return to Albert Square because she missed her alter ego.
She said: "I miss Kat. I miss the scripts with the great one-liners. I do miss my friends there."
