John Whaite and Johannes Radebe made 'Strictly Come Dancing' history with the show's first ever all-male performance.
The duo fought back tears following their Tango to 'Blue Monday' by New Order
Anton Du Beke said: "Last week you said you wanted to make it about the dancing and you made it about the dancing because that was a great dance, it was really strong it was really clean, it was strong it was powerful, just carry on like that please and I'll be delighted!"
Shirley Ballas added: "I feel this is a testimony to the same sex couple, it was absolutely exquisite, to go from a leader to being lead, beautiful choreographic, it was absolutely stunning well done."
And the pair's hard work paid off as they clocked up 30 points out of 40, placing joint second on the leaderboard, alongside Adam Peaty and Katya Jones.
Television presenter AJ Odudu received a score of 34 from the judges, taking top spot on the leaderboard with her partner Kai Widdrington.
Motsi Mabuse said it was "the best dance of the evening, without a doubt", while Anton Du Beke added: "We have just dropped into week nine. There's not much to say. It was absolutely remarkable. Completely brilliant."
All 15 couples performed during Saturday's (25.09.21) opening show.
There will be no eliminations this week, with all scores carried over to week two.
