John Bishop is to host the Royal Variety Performance.
The 46-year-old comedian will present the annual gala evening, which will feature performances from Gary Barlow and Olly Murs, as well as 'Britain's Got Talent' winners Attraction and the cast of West End musical 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'.
John admits he "never imagined" he would ever land such a gig and can't wait to host the action on the London Palladium stage.
He said: "As a child, the Royal Variety Show was like the Grand National and the FA Cup final - it was something our family always watched - the only difference being that we didn't bet on the winner.
"I trust my parents will be proud when they take their seats in the audience, although I have told my dad not to shout, 'Come on son.' It's not a match or a horse race!"
Dame Edna Everage will also perform at the spectacle, which will be filmed on November 25 and shown on ITV at some point in December, as well as several other music and entertainment acts who will be announced nearer the time.
The reigning monarch or another member of the British Royal Family always attends the event, which takes place on behalf of the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund, of which Queen Elizabeth is the patron.
All proceeds from the performance are donated to the fund, which helps to provide support for elderly or distressed former members of the entertainment industry.
