John Barrowman is in talks to host 'All Star Musicals'.
The 54-year-old actor - who recently admitted to "tomfoolery" during filming of 'Doctor Who' and 'Torchwood' after he exposed himself on set - looks set for a comeback on the ITV show, with negotiations said to be "going well".
An insider said: "Talks with John are going well."
John is not thought to have signed a control for the programme yet, but Christmas and Easter shows are in pre-production.
The insider added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "He’s the best man for the job and it’s been accepted that his behaviour was foolish rather than predatory.
"He knows it was a really daft thing to do but it was all a long time ago and there’s no chance of it happening again. We’re drawing a line and moving on."
Last weekend, John - who played Captain Jack Harkness in 'Torchwood' - admitted he had sought therapy after being embroiled in a scandal for exposing himself on the sets of the sci-fi show and its spin-off.
He has insisted he was only trying to lighten the mood and entertain colleagues, but acknowledged his behaviour may have upset people.
And just days ago he admitted the backlash about his antics led him to seek help after his mental health began to slide.
He said: "It was upsetting my mental health. My husband Scott suggested I talk to somebody. I won't discuss what I've said in therapy sessions - that's a matter of doctor/patient confidentiality – but I don't mind admitting it's helped me a great deal.
"It's made me aware that despite how much cancel culture may talk about respecting people's mental health, too often they don't respect the mental health of the people they're trying to cancel. So I needed to understand what was happening, which is why I went to speak to somebody.
"It's a conversation that's still going on. Seriously, whatever the situation, if you feel you need to reach out to someone it's very important to keep talking."
John has also insisted there was "absolutely nothing sexual" about his behaviour and he was just trying to "maintain a jokey atmosphere".
But he was warned by BBC executive producer Julie Gardner to "rein in" his "antics".
