The 35-year-old comedian starred on the ITV show in 2016, but he believes that shooting the upcoming series in Wales instead of Australia due to coronavirus restrictions will make things really difficult for the campmates.

He said: "I think it would be really tough. They are guinea pigs.

"I went in and there had already been 16 casts in before me and you kind of knew to a certain degree what to expect.

This year, there's no idea what to expect, and you know because it's different, they are going to throw everything, including the kitchen sink at them.

"It will be absolutely mad, I am so excited about this and I haven't been this excited about anything for a while. I think it's going to be huge. I can't wait to watch it going, 'oh and it's that cold there as it is for us here'.

"I think we can feel a bit more sorry for them, it's going to be really cold, they are going to be really hungry and the Welsh countryside can be very unforgiving. I assume there will be heights, caves, and zip-lines involved. They won't allow it to be 'oh that's fine', they are going to really go for it."

Joel thinks the Australian weather helped to lift the spirits of the campmates.

He told Digital Spy: "There's moments where you are really hungry, smell terrible, miss your family, and then there's just a glimmer of sun through the trees and that moment would give you life.

"Take that away and it's going to be really tough."
