Joel Dommett is “so proud” of Mo Gilligan.
The ‘Masked Singer UK’ presenter has praised the comedian as “such a natural” after he received a Best Talent Show Judge nod for the upcoming National Television Awards for his work as a panellist on the ITV show alongside Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Rita Ora.
The 37-year-old star told new! magazine: “I’m so proud of that guy. He just keeps achieving and achieving and he’s such a natural. I don’t know what it is that you need to have to be special in this business, but he’s got it in droves. He’s incredible, he’s infectious to be around, he’s generous and funny.”
Joel - who will present the NTAs ceremony for the second year in a row - was “happy” his performance went down well last year.
He said: “I’m happy people embraced it and what I did with it. I tried not to impose myself too much. It’s not about me, it’s about celebrating the shows that are involved and I think if you always remember that then people will enjoy what you do. You’re guiding the ship and trying your best to make sure it doesn’t fall apart when you hit stormy waters.”
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity' star - who is married to model Hannah Cooper, 31 - likes to depart the after-party prior to “the messiness”.
Joel said: “I tend to leave before all the messiness. I like to leave a party first and not last. It was such a long and stressful day that by the time it got to the after-party I was shattered, I just wanted to go home and sleep.”
The ‘Joel and Nish vs the World’ star ruled out being in the running to replace Laura Whitmore as host of ‘Love Island’, labelling it “big shoes to fill”.
Joel said: “I think I’m on enough ITV shows as it is. Whoever is going to take that place has some big shoes to fill, it’ll be a lot of pressure.”
