Joel Dommett has reportedly signed up to present the upcoming 'Survivor' reboot.
The reality TV survival show is returning to the small screen almost two decades after the original series was axed and now a new report suggests 'The Masked Singer' presenter Joel has been tapped to front the new project for the BBC.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "He was offered the job just before Christmas and accepted almost immediately. It is his first BBC primetime role and is a huge leap for him ...
“Joel was a massive fan of the original series and made that clear when approached. He really impressed with his passion, and work on 'The Masked Singer' and 'The Masked Dancer'."
The insider added: "The BBC feel Survivor is going to be massive, and having Joel is the cherry on the cake."
The original 'Survivor' ran for two series from 2000 until 2002 with the first season being hosted by newsreader Mark Austin and the second being helmed by cricket commentator Mark Nicholas.
'Survivor' is expected to return to TV next year with applications for potential contestants open until February.
Kate Phillips, Director of Unscripted at the BBC, previously said of the project: ''Survivor' is a global television hit and to be able to bring one of TV's most successful formats to audiences in the UK in a uniquely BBC way is a very exciting prospect indeed."
The show is filmed on an isolated island with the survivors being left to fend for themselves while also taking part in mental and physical challenges as they compete to be named the winner.
Despite only lasting two seasons in the UK, the format has been a huge hit around the world with the American version due to broadcast its 43rd season later this year.
