The 34-year-old star has opened up for the first time about the cosmetic treatment he underwent years ago to retain his ginger locks and has admitted he was too "embarrassed" to tell people about it because he feared going bald would prevent him from getting work.

Speaking on 'Loose Women' on Monday (01.08.16), he said: "I did get it [a hair transplant] done a few years ago so I was probably in a different mindset then. I tried to keep it a secret, I was really embarrassed about it, I didn't want anyone to know and Wayne Rooney and James Nesbitt, they're open about it and I think it's amazing."

The 'I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here, NOW!' presenter - who is dating Stacey Solomon - felt he needed to fork out on the procedure to save his career from crumbling.

He explained: "I had one [hair transplant] done years ago but for myself it was something I wanted to do, it made me feel better.

"I was on the TV so that might have had something to do with it. I just thought I started ageing a little bit, I looked older than I am. And especially with the job that I'm doing as well, I want to try and look my best. I think it's more about how you feel in yourself."

In 2009, the former 'EastEnders' star - who has eight-year-old son Harry from his relationship with his ex-fiancée Emma Sophocleous - was rumoured to have spent £3,000 on the transplant.
