The 35-year-old actor played Mickey Miller in the BBC One soap from 2003 to 2008 and then briefly again, for two episodes, in 2011, and wasn't happy with the way he exited the show, according to his girlfriend Stacey Solomon.

She said: "When I speak to Joe, he's always disappointed that he didn't get that duff duff [the EastEnders iconic theme tune] when he left."

Stacey made the comments as she and her fellow 'Loose Women' panellists - Nadia Sawalha, Saira Khan and Anne Diamond - interviewed Deena Payne, who played Viv Hope in 'Emmerdale'.

Deena also admitted it would have "been nice" to get a more dramatic ending for her character.

She said: "I had a little bit too much wine and all of a sudden I was burnt to death but there we are."

And when asked if she wanted a more dramatic ending, she added: "It would've been nice. When you've worked in a soap and ridden the waves for 18 years it's quite nice to be remembered for your exit, which I will be because I didn't shout for help."

Deena would have loved for Viv to have had an exit similar to that of Ashley Thomas, played by John Middleton, as addressing his dementia on the soap brought it to the forefront of people's minds.

Asked what kind of exit she wanted, she said: "A nice build up to something like Ashley Thomas had. And something topical that you can get your teeth into."
