A police officer who has been investigating the Jimmy Savile sex abuse scandal is reportedly going to be a contestant on 'Big Brother'.
The detective has been part of Operation Yewtree, the probe set up in the wake of the sickening claims made against the disgraced 'Jim'll Fix It' presenter, and has been investigating the various allegations made against Savile and other celebrities.
Now the cop, who quit the force a few weeks ago, is set to appear on the fly-on-the-wall reality show and Metropolitan Police bosses are said to be concerned they will reveal details of the investigation - which has followed-up over 400 lines of enquiry since September 2012 - to the other housemates.
A show insider told The Daily Star newspaper: "The housemate knows they are going to hit the headlines over this. Leaving the police force to go into the 'Big Brother' house is a massive move. Their former bosses are going to be shocked about their decision to join the show and naturally will be worried about what might be said inside the house. This person has seen a lot of bad things while working on Operation Yewtree."
The controversial contestant told 'Big Brother' bosses during the audition stage that working on the investigation had been "upsetting" and "draining", but insisted the work being carried out by the 30-plus team of officers was worthwhile and hopefully had been of benefit to the victims who had come forward.
Since the first allegations of sexual abuse were made against Savile - who died in October 2011 aged 84 - in ITV documentary 'Exposure: The Other Side of Jimmy Savile' hundreds of alleged victims came forward with complaints against the former 'Top of the Pops' presenter. He is now considered by police to be one of Britain's most prolific sex offenders.
'Big Brother: Secrets & Lies' - with Emma Willis now presenting - begins on Channel 5 tonight (13.06.13).
