Jimmy Carr paid the price for a mistake on his show ‘I Literally Just Told You’, as he gave a contestant £18,000 following a blunder.
The ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ comedian - who fronts the Channel 4 game show - had to fork out five-figure sum on the memory-based game show, after one contestant was robbed of a huge prize.
Supermarket worker Eddy was unable to provide the answer when asked what was Ariana Grande’s age, as this specific fact had not come up previously, but Jimmy owned up to the mistake and coughed up the cash.
The 49-year-old star said: “Now I’ve got something to tell you, I’ve got something to confess.
“You lost the money on a question – it was Ariana Grande’s age.
“We talked about her age but we never gave you the specific age, so we messed up.
“And when you mess up in life, you’ve got to own your mistakes. Here’s a cheque for £18,000.”
In December, 'DIY SOS' star Nick Knowles slammed Jimmy's new quiz show for "pitting charities against one another", as one contestant leaves with cash for their chosen charity while three go home with nothing.
Nick previously tweeted: "So Jimmy Carr’s 'I literally just told you' plays off charities against each other to go home with nothing so 3 important charities took part tonight but received no cash at all. Only one got money I’m not sure I like playing charities off against each other for entertainment (sic)"
However, one Twitter user hit back, saying: "Yes but one charity got 18 grand and the others got vital airtime and awareness. How do you know the celebs arent personally giving them anyway? If you dont like theres an off button (sic)"
