Jesy Nelson reportedly failed to strike a deal with Netflix to appear on 'Bear Hunt'.
The former Little Mix singer was expected to head to Costa Rica to film the new series - which will see famous faces trained by survival expert Bear Grylls embark on a series of challenges – this month, however, it appears she hasn’t made the final line-up.
An insider told The Sun: "Jesy had meetings with producers who were casting for the show, but in the end they couldn’t come to a deal so Jesy won’t be in the final line-up.
"It will be a real blow to Little Mix fans who were excited to see her back in the public eye, and it would have been a huge global gig for Jesy, but bosses met with loads of big celeb names and not everyone ends up in the confirmed mix.
"The show is set to be a huge hit though and Netflix are ploughing loads of money into it so it’s sure to get another series - don’t be surprised if Jesy ends up in the line-up for the second season."
It would have been a springboard for the 32-year-old singer to relaunch her solo career.
A source previously told The Sun on Sunday newspaper's Bizarre column: “Casting agents have approached Jesy to see if she would be interested and have deep pockets to ensure it’s worth her time financially. She has a huge fanbase and the reality challenge series would be the perfect comeback for her.
“Filming takes place for a few weeks so she won’t even be away from home and her creature comforts for too long.
“Jesy will be incredible.”
It was previously revealed Netflix planned to spare no expense when it came to securing bookings for the Holly Willoughby-hosted show.
A source told The Sun newspaper's TV Biz column: "On similar celebrity-led challenge shows like 'Strictly' and 'I’m a Celeb', the line-ups often vary from little-known people to established stars.
"Netflix are determined their collection will be largely killer, with very little filler. They’re not scrimping on paying six-figure fees and aren’t afraid to cough up more for the biggest names.
“They’ll be shelling out an eight-figure sum in all, so the cast will be one of the most expensive in reality TV history.”
Other names attached include Spice Girl Mel B, 'Strictly Come Dancing' head judge Shirley Ballas, former Saturdays star Una Healy, rugby star Danny Cipriani, and model Leomie Anderson.
