Jeremy Clarkson is reportedly going to be sacked by the BBC later today, after an investigation by the corporation following an allegation he was involved in an altercation with producer Oisin Tymon. According to the Daily Telegraph newspaper, Lord Hall, the Director General of the BBC is to confirm his dismissal.
The 54-year-old presenter will be thanked for his work on the motoring show, but will be informed that his behaviour cannot be tolerated.
The corporation intends to continue broadcasting 'Top Gear' on BBC2 and sources have told the newspaper that bosses are keen to see Radio 2 Breakfast Show host Chris Evans assume responsibility for presenting the programme.
The 48-year-old entertainer is a self-confessed motoring enthusiast and boasts one of the most prestigious car collections in Britain, which includes a 1963 Ferrari 250GTO.
Although he has previously distanced himself from the job, BBC bosses are keen to persuade him to accept the role.
Meanwhile, the future of Clarkson's co presenters James May and Richard Hammond remain unclear.
Clarkson, on the other hand, is thought to be set to sign a lucrative deal with American network Netflix.
