The 'Clarkson's Farm' star, 64, is reportedly interested in buying The Coach and Horses pub, which is situated opposite his Hawkstone Brewery in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, where he plans to sell local produce.

Gloucestershire County Council member Jon Wareing is quoted by Gloucestershire Live as saying: "As far as Jeremy Clarkson's intentions with the pub are concerned, I understand he's passionate about championing British farming and one way to do that is to ensure that a local pub serves locally produced food and drinks in a family atmosphere with affordable pricing.

"I'm totally supportive of measures that support our local farming community, they continue to have a really tough time of things, and we have great local meats, cheeses and other fresh produce that we should be celebrating."

The Cotswold District Council granted the 18th Century venue – which is owned by The Stonegate Group – a license to sell alcohol from 11 A.M. to 11 P.M. seven days a week, and is permitted to host live music outside until 9 P.M. - though the permit states all windows and doors are to be closed when the music is being played.

Cllr. Wareing insisted the former 'Top Gear' star wouldn't be turning the area into a "party town", and said Jeremy emphasised he and his team would "mitigate noise impact" as best as they could.

He explained: "They want to work with residents. They want to make sure they understand what they are doing - they don’t want events that big.

"They are looking at measures to mitigate noise impact. Not opening super late. They have been really constructive. Their intention is not to be a party town.

"[Jeremy’s] very much on a mission to promote British farming. Using local produce is a theme of what they want to do - hence the stake in the brewery. And the desire to also open a pub somewhere."
